Now everyone can afford the luxury of showering in filtered water that is chemical free!!!

Two of the very highly toxic and volatile chemicals, trichloroethylene and chloroform, have been proven as toxic contaminants found in most all municipal drinking water supplies. The National Academy of Sciences recently has estimated that hundreds of people die in the United States each year from the cancers caused largely by ingesting water pollutants from inhalation as air pollutants in the home. Inhalation exposure to water pollutants is largely ignored. Recent shocking data indicates that hot showers can liberate about 50% of the chloroform and 80% of the trichloroethylene into the air. Chlorine is universally used to chemically disinfect water. It kills germs, bacteria and other microorganisms. Chlorine readily passes through cell walls, and attaches to fatty acids in the cell, disrupting life-sustaining functions. The human body is composed of billions of similar cells, which also absorb chlorine. It may be necessary to disinfect our tap water with chlorine, but with today’s technology, we do not have to be exposed to it. The quality of our drinking water can be improved, by filtering chlorine from the tap water. However, only part of the problem has been addressed.

One half of our daily chlorine exposure is from showering. Not only is chlorine absorbed through the skin, but also vaporizes in the shower, inhaled into the lungs and transferred directly into the blood system. The more hydrated the skin, the greater the absorption. If the skin is hydrated by perspiration or immersion in water or if the contaminant compounds are in solution, penetration is enhanced. Increased skin or water temperature will also enhance skin absorption capacity proportionately. During swimming and bathing, it may be expected that greater hydration of skin surfaces will take place. Furthermore, any insult (i.e. sunburn) or injury (i.e. cuts, wounds, abrasions) to the skin will lower its ability to act as a barrier against foreign substances. A history of skin disease such as psoriasis or eczema acts to lower the natural barrier of the outer skin layer, as do rashes, dermatitis, or any chronic skin condition. Regional area has a lot to do with absorption rates also. The epidermis of the hand represents a relatively greater barrier to penetration than many other parts of the body, including the scalp, forehead, abdomen, area in and around the ears, underarms and the genital area. Penetration through the genital area is estimated to be 100% but only 8.6% for the forearm. Other routes of absorption include oral, nasal, cheeks, mouth cavity, eyes, and ear areas. These routes have been underestimated in their ability to absorb contaminants during immersion in water. Inhalation serves as yet another route. In the case of swimming or bathing, the volatized chemicals are likely to gather near the surface of the water and are readily inhalable. In addition, some may be swallowed. Symptoms of chlorine exposure include dry skin, brittle hair, and flaking scalp. In fact, chlorine exposure from one shower is equal to an entire day’s amount of drinking the same water. Therefore, drinking filtered or bottled water solves only half the problem. Unlimited Shower Filters offer the answer for the complete solution.
