Bovine Colostrum is the first food the cow produces upon the birth of a calf. It flows for approximately 48 hours. During that time its contents gradually change from colostrum to milk. It is the first 12-hour collection however, that is the most important. This early flow contains the highest content of immunoglobulins (anti-bodies) and other immune boosting and energizing elements. Humans get at least 90% of their immune factors passed on before birth through placenta feeding. However, the calf is born with no immunity to air borne disease causing organisms. Therefore it must have colostrum to kick start its immune system. So powerful is this liquid that without it there is about a 75% chance the calf will die. Because of this post partum, external delivery system, the contents of bovine colostrum are extremely concentrated. In fact, this highly energizing and extra ordinary food contains at least 10-20 times more immune and other relevant health boosting factors, than found in human colostrum.

• Bovine colostrum contains five types of specific antibodies. The letters lg, which means Immunoglobulin, identifies them. Most circulate in the blood and lymph systems ready to attack invading bacteria, viruses, allergens and fungi. LgG is the most prevalent of anti-bodies found in colostrum. Their purpose is to help destroy invading pathogens. LgG carries the mother’s passive immunity factors onto the receiver. It can even neutralize poisonous toxins and helps its expulsion out of the body.

Lactoferrin
• (bLF for bovine) is an iron binding glycoprotein that acts as a front line defense for the immune system. This includes the RNA and DNA within each cell. Lactoferrin is found only in human and bovine colostrum and milk. It also fights against the corrosive process known as the free radical oxidation. Lactoferrin has been proven efficient against a variety of these. This incredible substance is now considered the singular most important natural compound available. It acts as a powerful anti-bacterial & anti-viral agent as well as an extra ordinary anti-inflammatory. Recent research has shown this unique substance has receptors on its molecular structure that binds to the iron receptor on bacteria and iron bonded viruses. This includes iron found in tumorous cell as well as on other types of irregular organisms. By adhering to the cell at a particular point, Lactoferrin inhibits its further reproduction. IGF-1 is also effective in accelerating healing. Similar in molecular formation to HGF (Human Growth Factor) it affects the human body in the same fashion, by decreasing fat formation.

Cytokines: Are other glycoproteins that form such compounds as Interleukins and often behave as enzymes. Cytokines are activated only in response to chemical signals within the body. Most are involved in cell to cell communications as receptors. They are involved in regulating the body immune response. They also act as anti-inflammatores such as in the formation of Interleukins 4, 6, and 10. They are concerned within the development and activity of organs. Cytokines as found in Colostrum are presently the subjects of studies centering on therapeutic intervention, especially those involving chemo and radio-therapies, bone marrow transplantation, and other immune response activities.

Lysozyme: An enzyme like material that neutralizes the effect of some bacteria and viruses.
