The East German Secret, Androstenedione, was first used as a performance-enhancing substance by the East Germans. Secret documents, which were discovered after the unification of East and West Germany, showed that a team of biologists, physiologists, and physicians, who were put in charge of coming up with novel programs to improve athletic performance in East German Olympic athletes, experimented extensively with androstenedione.
According to Raik Hanneman, a promising young German swimmer, androstenedione was, “… like a volcanic eruption.” It was mandatory for any athlete German who wanted to participate in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In a German patent application stated that oral doses of androstenedione, given to men at levels of 50 mg and 100 mg. Raised testosterone levels from 140% to 183% and 211% to 237% respectively. You might say this supplement “upgrades” your body’s natural production of testosterone.

There is possibly a big market for Androstenedione as a libido booster at the modest 100 mg dosage, since the testosterone elevation is likely superior to many of the libido products currently available.

50 to 100 mg taken first thing in the morning and perhaps another 50 – 100 mg in the evening would work well (to enhance the anabolic drive). For a strength boost, a dose 60 minutes before training could produce favorable results. (After an oral dose, testosterone levels peak at about 90 minutes.) Absorption may be better on an empty stomach.

Since Androstenedione seems to cause a brief burst of testosterone, it may not cause any of the usual testosterone side effects. It is not a drug; thus, it does not pose all the health risks of anabolic steroid use, such as liver toxicity, kidney stress, etc.

In body building, testosterone is almost a magic word. Androstenedione, being only one step away, might develop a little magic of its own.
